8 Days of Adventure, Nature, and Culture: An Immersive Ugandan Journey

This 8 days magical Ugandan safari will give you one of the most incredible safari experiences in Africa with an opportunity to explore the unique nature of the pearl of Africa. Imagine standing at the edge of the world, gazing upon the majestic landscape of Uganda from the Rwenzori Mountains. Here your adventure begins with a challenging yet rewarding Diamond Hike.

Your journey will then continue to the wild heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will enjoy the thrill of a game drive which will introduce you to Africa’s most iconic wildlife including Africa’s BIG 5 which will be followed by a serene boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, offering yet another different perspective on the park’s natural wonders.

The adventure doesn’t stop here but rather gets even better. It will then lead you into the lush, misty and Impenetrable forests of Bwindi where you will have an intimate encounter with the world’s most gentle yet highly endangered species, the mountain gorillas. On the D-day as anticipation builds up, you will trek through the dense jungle, in the company of ranger guides, behind a scout creating a path through the jungle with a machete to meet these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. After this experience, you will embark on a cultural walk through the traditional villages of the Batwa people, where history and tradition come alive in every step.

Next, you will take on the wild rapids of the source of the Nile with a thrilling half-day rafting adventure in Jinja, where the river’s energy mirrors your own. And when the sun sets, it’s time to experience the vibrant pulse of Kampala’s nightlife, where music, dance, and the spirit of Uganda will sweep you into the heart of its urban beat.

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe International Airport

Day 2: Transfer to the Rwenzori mountains.

Day 3: Rwenzori Diamond hike and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 4:  Game drives, launch cruise & transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa cultural experience

A DETAILED ITINERARY ABOUT THE 8 DAYS MAGICAL UGANDAN SAFARI

Day 1:  Arrival in Entebbe

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be meant and greeted by a professional driver guide who is ready to accompany you on this memorable adventure. After meeting each other, he will give you an insight of this safari then you will aboard your safari vehicle and proceed to the hotel for the night.

Day 2: Transfer to the Rwenzori mountains

After having your early breakfast by 7: 00 am, you will check out of the hotel and begin your transfer drive to mountain Rwenzori popularly known as the mountains of the moon. This journey will take approximately 5 to 6 hours. En route, you will have a lunch stopover in Mubende before proceeding with your journey to Rwenzori mountains national park. Dinner will be served at the lodge after you check in.

Early in the morning, the lodge will provide you with a breakfast and a packed lunch then your driver guide will transfer you to Rwenzori Mountains National Park Headquarters in Nyakalengija for registration and briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers in preparation for the hike.

After briefing, you will embark on the diamond trail hike. This is a 5 to 6 hours hike that will give you a blend of experiences such as a moderate hike as well as an opportunity to view a number of primate species.

Later in the evening after the hike, you will board your safari vehicle and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. Upon arrival in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will check into your lodge where dinner will be served and you will stay the night.

Day 4:  Game drive and boat cruise, late evening cross to Bwindi

After having breakfast very early in the morning, you will head out with your driver guide for a game viewing experience. This game drive will take you through the different trails in the park and during this you will spot a number of wildlife species such as lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, among others and bird species such as Gray-crowned crane, long-chested eagle, and great blue turaco, among others.

After the game drive, you will have a stopover for a hot lunch within the park which will be followed by a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. This will give you an opportunity to also spot aquatic wildlife such as hippos and crocodiles.

This boat cruise will take between 2-3 hours then after you will continue on another scenic drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park via Ishasha offering you a great chance at spotting the tree climbing lions and more wildlife. Once in Bwindi, check into your accommodation then settle down for dinner.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural experience

Ultimate Gorilla day! On this day, a tasty breakfast will be served at the lodge early morning and a packed lunch provided then your driver guide will pick you from the lodge and take you to the park headquarters in that sector for your gorilla trekking experience.

Once at the park headquaters, you will enjoy a short cultural entertainment of traditional singing and dancing then the briefing will commence. During the briefing, you will be guided on the code of conduct and what to expect when trekking the mountain gorillas. This briefing will last about 30 minutes after which you will be grouped into groups of 8 and each group assigned a gorilla family to visit. Your driver guide will then pick you up and take you to the starting point where you will meet the rest of your group and begin the trek. It is at this point that you can hire a porter to assist with your luggage if you need one.

In your group of 8 individuals, you will penetrate the forest in search of the gorilla family assigned to you. This search will take between 4 to 6 hours and once you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed 1 hour in their presence.

After the trekking experience, you will return to the starting point where you will meet your driver guide, have your lunch and then return to the lodge with a stopover at the Batwa community villages.

Day 6: Transfer from Bwindi to Kampala

Unwind the day with an early breakfast at the lodge, then check out and with your driver guide embark on a transfer drive from Bwindi to Kampala Uganda’s capital city where you will stay the night. This is an approximately  9 to 10 hours scenic drive with a lunch stopover at Igongo cultural center in Mbarara before arriving in Kampala.

Accommodations: Bush pig backpackers.

Day 7: Transfer to Jinja, half day rafting and return to Kampala(nightlife)

On this day you will rise up very early in the morning, take breakfast then depart from Kampala to the adventure capital of East Africa for a half day white water rafting experience. This drive from Kampala to Jinja will take between 2 to 3 hours.

White water rafting is one of the most incredible and thrilling activity to take part in while visiting Jinja.

After your rafting experience, you will have lunch with in jinja town then drive back to Kampala. Once at your lodge in Kampala, freshen up and enjoy a bit of relaxation before heading out for the Kampala night life experience. During this, you will go for a drive around Kampala and visit some of the hot spots such as night clubs.

Half day rafting at JinjaDay 8: Transfer to Entebbe International airport

On this day, you will enjoy a complete rest and relaxation at the lodge after the long and adventureous night. Lunch will be served at the lodge then later in the evening, your guide will pick you up and drop you at Entebbe International Airport where you will catch your flight to your next destination.
