15 Days Uganda and Rwanda: Primates and wildlife

The 15 days Uganda and Rwanda safari will bring you to the close encounter with various wildlife and primates from different destinations of these two prime safari destinations of Africa. You will go gorilla trekking at Bwindi impenetrable forest national park in southern Uganda. The park is the home to over a half of mountain gorilla population with 4 sectors that offers this experience. Bwindi is the only place that also offer gorilla habituation where you will have 4 hours with a great encounter of these endangered great apes. You will also have a chance to have an encounter with the joyous golden monkey that inhabit volcanoes national park, the park is part of great Virunga massif which is shared by Uganda, Rwanda and DRC.

Beside primate experience, you will go for wildlife experience at queen Elizabeth national park, the park is the home to the tree climbing lions which are found at ishasha sector. You will also do a game drive at kasenyi plain of the park with the evening game drive at kasenyi plain for full exploration of the park.

BRIEF ITINERARY.

Day 1: Depart Kigali City/International Airport for Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and the Canopy Walk adventure.

Day 3: Travel to Volcanoes National Park, in the north-west of Rwanda.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience and visit to Gorilla Guardian Village or Twin Lakes.

Day 5: Cross over to Uganda, then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking experience and Batwa cultural walk

Day 7:  Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 8: wildlife viewing and evening boat cruise.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Trekking.

Day 11:  Transfer to Murchison falls national park& visit top of the falls

Day 12: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise.

Day 13:  Transfer to Kampala pass via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 14: Transfer to Jinja (white water rafting).

Day 15: Departure to Entebbe International Airport.

DETAILED ITINERARY FOR THE 15 DAYS RWANDA UGANDA.

Day 1: Pick up from your hotel then transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park.

Early morning you will be picked from your hotel about 7:00am and begin the 15 days Uganda Rwanda Safari, taking the road southwards towards Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey is for 5-6 hours including the stop at former King’s Palace in Nyanza and Ethnographic Museum in Butare. Get there on time for lunch and rest from the long journey.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and the Canopy Walk adventure.

This morning, we arise to an early start that will see us venture into the jungle of Nyungwe to spend some quality time with some of Rwanda’s Chimpanzee population. The guide will drive you to the visitor Centre for briefing on guidelines of chimpanzee trekking as well as watching these endangered Great Apes. Make sure that you carried your lunch box and the necessary trekking gears.

After 2-5 hours of the entire chimpanzee trekking experience (including the one hour in their presence), you will enjoy a picnic lunch and have a nature-filled afternoon during the canopy walk. The walk involves passing through the 45-meter-high bridge suspended above tree canopies and deep gorge for a different perspective of the forest. Here you will be able to see a variety of bird species and the aerial view of the forest.

You will have break fast very early in the morning then depart to volcanoes national park. On day 3 we journey into the lush Volcanoes National Park, mountain gorilla haven in the north-west of the country. Lunch en-route and for your entire evening you will just rest to get rejuvenated for your next adventure the next day.

 Day 4: Golden monkey experience and visit to Gorilla Guardian Village.

Early morning benefit from a tasty breakfast at the lodge before your first exciting morning drive through the Switzerland of Rwanda Park that is too clear in the indigenous forest for golden monkey trekking draws one to the real side of natural beauty. Golden monkey trekking commences with a briefing at the park headquarters (Kinigi) where you learn more about the dos and don’ts within the forest.  From here ready with your hiking equipments then you will join a group of people to start the search for the golden monkeys.

In the jungle only one hour is offered to spend with these golden monkeys. Here one hour includes taking photos, see these joyous primates feeding and many more. After descend down to the park head quarters meet your guide then drive to your lodge have lunch. In the late afternoon prepare to visit the gorilla guardian village. Here you will learn about the rich cultures of the Rwandese either through dance, music and story telling.

In the late evening, prepare to transfer to your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

golden monkey at MgahingaDay 5: Cross over to Uganda, then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. You will cross from Rwanda to Uganda through cyanika Uganda Rwanda boarder and then drive to your Lodge. Check in relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

 Day 6:  Gorilla trekking and Batwa community walk

Early morning, breakfast with your packed lunch, you will report to the park headquarters for registration and join other trackers in a briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your Gorilla Tracking. Trekking involves hiking through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas it determines on where you have met them. upon meeting up with them only one hour is offered for interaction taking photos and many more.

After descending to the park head quarters, meet your guide and then drive to your lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon, prepare to visit the Batwa people the first inhabitants of Bwindi. They are popularly known to be short people however with hidden rich cultures. Here you will learn about the rich cultures of Batwa either through dance, music and story telling.

In the late evening, prepare to transfer to your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7:  Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

This morning you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, be prepared for some incredible scenery along the way. You will arrive in time for Lunch at the lodge and then in the late afternoon prepare to do a game drive in the plains of Kasenyi. Here you will view a variety of savannah wildlife such as buffaloes, antelopes, elephants and many others.

Day 8: Wildlife viewing and evening boat cruise

Embark on an early morning game drive with one of Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger guides to lead you to spots where lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, elephants, Cape buffaloes, Hippos, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks and Topis are found with visits to watering holes where most animals converge.

The park is famously known for being one of the best Wildlife Sanctuaries in the country with over 95 mammal species, about 600 bird species and several reptile species. After enjoying your wonderful game drive, you will head to your lodge to have lunch.

After having lunch at the Lodge, begin your afternoon adventure on Kazinga Channel, where you will see high concentration of Hippos and Nile crocodiles. Drive back to the Lodge as the sun is setting over the sweeping plains.

Very early in the morning, after having breakfast you will transfer to the primate capital of the world which is situated in the south western parts of Uganda.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Trekking

Depart for Kibale National Park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking very early in the morning after taking your hearty breakfast at the lodge. You will arrive at the park headquarters for a briefing at Kanyanchu visitors center. The briefing gives you detailed information about the dos and don’ts of the chimpanzees in their habitat.

Embark on the morning chimpanzee tracking excursion. The trek typically takes 2-4 hours. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you’ll have 1 hour to observe and photograph them in their natural habitat and have a close encounter with them in their natural habitat. After the experience return to your lodge, relax and in the late afternoon enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Unwind the day with a tasty breakfast at your lodge then drive to Murchison Falls National Park passing through small towns, villages as well as great views of the escarpment arriving in the late evening. En route lunch will be had on the way.

Check in at your lodge, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise

After an early morning cup of tea, transfer to the northern section famously known as paraa for your morning game drive. Here you will spot thousands of animals such as giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, hippos lions, leopards and many more.

Return to the lodge for a lunch break before proceeding to the pier for your two-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls to witness how river Nile squeezes itself in a narrow gorge before exploding out producing an experience of a lifetime.

Rise up with a tasty breakfast at your lodge, then embark on transferring from Murchison to Kampala. You will pass via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, track rhinos, have lunch and then proceed to Kampala. Once you reach in Kampala, check in at the lodge, have dinner and rest.

Day 14: Transfer to Jinja (white water rafting)

On this day you will rise up very early in the morning take breakfast then depart from Kampala to the adventure capital of East Africa for a half day rafting.

White water rafting is among the incredible and thrilling activity to take part while with in Jinja.

After your rafting experience you will have lunch at your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 15: Departure to Entebbe International Airport

On this day you will enjoy a heavy breakfast at your lodge. Check out at the lodge and depart for Entebbe for your flight back home.
